For some time now,

things just haven't

felt right

From the outside looking in, perhaps it doesn't seem like you’re in the worst place. Some might even say you’re doing quite well.

You’ve defied some odds, overcame obstacles, and accomplished important goals.

But lately life has felt disappointing, confusing, or empty.

You’re going through the motions unsure of why, after all you’ve been through you find yourself in the throes of unhappiness and anxiety.

You're stuck and unsure if things will change.

Perhaps you would like to feel more confident and self-assured, but fear of rejection and the opinions of others keep you anxious with self-doubt.

Maybe life feels unmanageable and uncertain. You try to organize and plan but you have more worries than answers.

Maybe your relationships don’t seem fulfilling. You have friends and associates, but no one really knows what you’ve been through.

Perhaps you’re stuck in a cycle of burnout. While others see your accomplishments, you constantly replay past mistakes in your mind. You feel consumed with the need to improve. After all, you were taught you had to be twice as good to get half as far. The lesson was honest and motivating, yet in practice, it’s exhausting.

You've Tried to Push Through

Neither journaling, exercise or vacations have resolved the rut you’re in.

You’ve tried to get on with life and ignore how you’re feeling. But these issues do not disappear when we focus on other things.

Without a space to explore and be candid about your experience, you can get trapped in painful patterns of ineffective coping and renewed hurt.

There's more to you than you know.

Everyone is a uniquely complex person with an unconscious mind. This means that we have forces operating inside us but outside our awareness that influence everything we think, feel and do. And what's more, these forces can keep us trapped in limiting cycles of pain.

Therapy is a journey into the unconscious – a journey into the soul.

Along the way you can learn the contours of your heart, the hidden habits that bind you, how your personality developed, the kinds of relationships you’re drawn to, the coping strategies you adopted to survive, or the recurring dynamics that inhibit joy, creativity, confidence, or connection.

While some therapies focus on the “news of the week,” we will focus on moving beyond the surface to discover and address the roots of your troubles.

This kind of approach, along with new experiences in the relationship with your therapist, can be liberating and transformative.

Start the Journey to a Better You

Your therapy process will be a one-of-kind tailored process focused on what's most important to you. And we’ll be in it with you to witness, support, challenge, question, and struggle together. We’ll encourage you to remain curious, and advocate for deeper learning at your pace.

Change and growth can be made possible in therapy.

Give yourself the time to be understood and grow with a therapist by your side. Let’s work together to pursue the life you truly desire.

The Transformative Power of Therapy

Therapy can be transformative and the journey looks different for everyone. Here are a few common outcomes for long-term individual therapy:

Frequently Asked Questions

Starting therapy can feel stressful, and it's normal to have questions. Here are some common queries and helpful answers.

Can I use insurance to pay for therapy?

Like most therapists in DC, we are considered 'out-of-network providers,' which means we do not accept insurance. However, insurance can reimburse you a percentage of the cost, depending on your coverage. Out-of-network therapists are not tied to insurance companies, which often allows them to focus more on your care without the constraints of insurance guidelines. Choosing an out-of-network provider means paying your therapist first and then pursuing reimbursement from your insurance company. Each month, we will provide you with a single form with all the information you need to receive reimbursement. Most of our patients are reimbursed for 50%-80% of the cost. We recommend that you call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions to discern how this process:

How much does therapy cost?

Our fees range from $160 - $215 for a 50-minute individual therapy session and $220 - $300 for a 60- 80-minute couples session. The fees depend on the therapists' level of experience.

What is the process to begin therapy?

Before the initial appointment, we will arrange a 15 – 20-minute phone call to learn about your concerns and reasons for pursuing therapy. We will also share how we work and answer any questions you may have. From there, we will decide on whether to schedule an initial consultation.

How do I know if you're a good fit for me?

Finding a good match between therapist and patient is essential to a good course of therapy. With that in mind, we’ve tried to describe how we work throughout this website. Take some time to read through the site to get a sense of our approach. Then we can have the initial phone consultation before the first appointment, where you can ask questions and discuss any reservations or concerns.

Finally, book an initial session. It can be challenging to understand how we’ll work together without being with each other in a session. You do not have to commit to regular sessions after the first meeting. After about 3 – 4 sessions, we’ll both know whether the fit is right. Once we figure that out, we’ll discuss the frequency of our meetings and how to proceed.

Do you offer teletherapy or in-person sessions?

We are a hybrid practice, meaning we offer both in-person and virtual sessions.

Can I work with you if I live outside of DC?
